Every event has two clocks

Every event on a Storyliner map carries two dates: when it happened, and when the public found out. Most timelines only show the first one — which makes a cover-up look the same as an ordinary sequence of events. Storyliner draws both, so the gap between them becomes visible.

Drag the scrubber and watch events change state. A filled dot is known to the public on that date. A hollow orange dot happened, but hasn't come out yet. When you cross the date it was revealed, it flips — that's the moment the record catches up with reality.

The reveal gap — how long something stayed hidden — is the number that matters most on each map, and it's what sorts the “Biggest cover-ups” shelf on the homepage.
